Registration Information 

CalOSHA 8 General Industry

Overview:

The CalOSHA 8 General Industry: Challenges of Real World Safety program was developed by Safety Center in cooperation with CalOSHA Consultation to teach those who are directly responsible for safety on the job daily to implement an effective Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) for their workplace. The program incorporates the 8 core elements of an effective IIPP: Responsibility, Compliance, Communication, Hazard Assessment (Find), Hazard Correction (Fix), Accident Investigation, Training, and Recordkeeping. Many hands on exercises are included to strength the student’s understanding of key concepts including Hazard Communication and understanding MSDS, an accident investigation practice exercise, and practical use of Title 8 CCR General Industry Safety Orders. Other topics covered specifically for general industry include:

  • Safety Committees

  • Exposure to Toxic Substances

  • Heat Illness Prevention

  • Permit and Non-Permit Required Confined Spaces

  • Ergonomics

  • Ladders Safety Center Incorporated

  • Fall Protection (including guardrails)

  • Stairs and Walking Surfaces

  • Electrical Safety

  • Lockout/Blockout/Tagout

  • Housekeeping

  • Machine Guarding

  • Mobile Equipment Safety

  • Temporary Traffic Control

  • Storage and

  • Effective Communication Skills

Who should Attend:

Foremen, leads and team leaders who are responsible for implementing an Injury and Illness Prevention Program daily at their worksite.
