Elementary School Children: Safety Center offers a unique children’s safety program
called Safetyville USA. Located
in Sacramento, this miniature city sits on three and a half acres. Groups of 10 to 20 children (four years old through third
grade) or developmentally disabled adults take a highly interactive guided
tour of Safetyville USA. Here
they learn such life saving safety skills as how to cross a street safely;
what to do in case of fire; telephone safety; how and when to dial 9-1-1;
railroad crossing safety; safe and unsafe strangers; bicycle, skate board
and scooter safety; the importance of proper child passenger restraint;
and playground safety.
Teenagers:
Recognizing that automobile crashes are the number one cause of
teenage deaths, Safety Center offers a highly interactive four hour
defensive driver intervention class for teen drivers called
Alive
at 25.
This program zeroes in on drivers between the ages of 16 and 24.
Instructors use workbook exercises, interactive media segments,
group discussions, role-playing, and short lectures to help young drivers
develop convictions and strategies that will keep them safer on the road.
Alcohol and drug usage is a compounding problem with
teen drivers. Safety Center
also offers a 10-hour Juvenile alcohol
& drug awareness program.
We offer this course as a court mandated class for “minors in
possession” or for local high school referrals.
Safety
Center also offers the California Motorcyclist Safety
Program, required
for riders under age 21 in order for them to get a license.
We offer this program at our Sacramento site.
Adults:
Safety
Center offers top quality occupational safety training throughout
California at our campus in Sacramento or a facility in Southern
California or at our customer’s place of business.
These classes
cover all types of safety training, from teaching safety professionals (Professional Safety Institute certificate
series) to hands-on classes
(e.g. Confined Space Rescue and Competent Person Excavation) to
train-the-trainer classes (e.g. Forklift Instructor and CPR Instructor) to
Alcohol & Drug education classes.
A 12-hour alcohol and drug education program is available to help
employees as well as employers deal with substance abuse issues.
These sessions are available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese or
Russian during a 10 to 12 week course available through open enrollment or
at a customer’s place of business.
Additionally, Safety Center’s alcohol and drug experts teach the
“Rapid Eye Check” program – a non-invasive tool that can easily be
taught to supervisors to immediately identify reasonable suspicion for
drug and alcohol use.
We also offer court-referred DUI and drug diversion
education in Stanislaus and Sacramento counties. We sell our instruction manuals and study guides to DUI
programs, outpatient programs, recovery homes, schools and private
businesses.
Safety Center offers the
California Motorcyclist
Safety Programs for both novice and
experienced
riders in Sacramento.
These motorcycle training classes teach motorcycle riders
life-saving skills and techniques through a combination of classroom and
on-range experiences.
Seniors: Safety
Center offers seniors an eight-hour defensive driving educational program
in Sacramento and Modesto, which may qualify participants to
receive auto insurance discounts.
Safety Center has annual revenues of approximately
$4.4 million. Our revenue
comes primarily from fees for services (87%).
The balance of our income comes from safety product sales (5%),
public & private grants (3%), fund raising events – net (2%),
membership (2%), and contributions and miscellaneous (1%).
