All riders under the age of 21 must complete this program to receive their motorcycle license. It is a complete course of instruction for riders of all ages. Course work consists of two components:

  • Basic Skills Development
  • Street Skills Development

The curriculum includes a minimum of 15 instructional hours which are divided between 5 hours of classroom instruction and testing and 10 hours of on-cycle instruction and testing.

The BASIC SKILLS development component consists of 3 hours of classroom and 4 hours of on-cycle instruction.

The STREET SKILLS development, which includes training in defensive driving strategies, is divided between 3 hours in the classroom and 5 hours of riding. The training includes familiarization with the motorcycle, starting and stopping, riding in straight lines and circles, weaving and offset weaving, shifting and turning, sharp turns, lane changes, controlling wheel skids, swerving to avoid obstacles, quick stops, cornering, and much more.

We provide motorcycles for students to use during the training. However, students are required to wear sturdy, low-heeled boots that  cover ankles, jeans, a long sleeved shirt or jacket, gloves, and eye protection. We will also provide helmets for the students.
