Young Driver Facts 
Q: Who can sign up for the course?
A: Teens ages 16 to 24 and court referred.  License or Permit is not required to take this class.

Q: Will I be able to get an insurance discount if I take this class?
A. Many insurance companies give discounts for National Safety Council defensive driving courses. Check with you insurance carrier to see if they give a discount for Alive at 25.

Q: Is the course available online?
A: The Safety Center does not offer this course online. The in-classroom class is a facilitated format designed to help young drivers to interact and learn from each other.  The instructor uses video, group discussions, exercises and role-playing to help teens think through the consequences of their actions. They also hear a speaker who shares their actual true to life story.

Q: How often are classes available?
A: It is offered once a month, every third Saturday at Safety Center in Sacramento. Please call or check online for classes scheduled in Modesto and Claremont. See below for complete contact information.

Q: How much does the course cost?
A: The fee is $40 per person and $65 for court-referred participants. The fee includes workbook, National Safety Council certificate of completion, and informative handouts including new CA driving laws from DMV.

Visa, Mastercard, Discover card, money order, check or cash accepted.

Q: How long is the course?
A: 4-hours including breaks.

Q: Is there behind-the-wheel driving?
A: No, this is a classroom setting only. However, a FOCUSimulator (driving simulator) is available at Safety Center’s Sacramento & Modesto locations.  Lessons are by appointment only. See below for complete contact information for the location near you.

Q: What driving safety courses does Safety Center have?
A:  Safety Center also offers a Mature Driver Course for 50 and older & for out-of-state tickets (8-hour Class and 4-hour Refresher). A FOCUSimulator (driving simulator) is available for new teen drivers and Alive @ 25 for Teens & Parents. Also, a DDC-4, designed for commercial drivers (4-hour Defensive Driving Course).
