Q: Who can sign up for the course?

A: The Alive at 25 program is designed for drivers 16 to 24 years old.

Q: Will I be able to get an insurance discount if I take this class?

A: In other states, many insurance companies have given Alive at 25 participants a discount on their auto insurance upon receiving a certificate of completion from the National Safety Council. Though not guaranteed, insurance companies may give price reductions for taking a defensive driving course. Check with a representative from your insurance company to see if Alive at 25 would entitle you to an insurance discount.

Q: Is the course available online?

A: Alive at 25 is not available online. The in-class format is best suited for young drivers to interact and learn with their peers through group discussion, workbook exercises, role-playing exercises, guest speakers, and short lectures.

Q: How often are classes available?

A: At this time, classes are offered once a month, either at Safety Center Incorporated in Sacramento, at our satellite office in Citrus Heights or at our Modesto location. Arrangements can be made for large groups to be taught at local area high schools or other offsite locations. For specific information about offsite classes, please contact the Safety Center directly at (800) 825-7262 ext. 226.

Q: How much does the course cost?

A: The fee for the Alive at 25 program is $40 per participant and $65 for court referred students. The cost includes a student workbook, a National Safety Council certificate of completion, and light refreshments.

Q: How long is the course?

A: The course takes four hours to complete.

Q: Is there behind-the-wheel driving?

A: No, the program is strictly a classroom setting.

Q: What driving safety courses does Safety Center have?

A: We have a Mature Driver Course for drivers 50 and older, a general defensive driving class (DDC-4) for drivers 25 to 49 years old, and Alive at 25 for 16 to 24 year old drivers.
